Pushing The Intensity Barrier

Here is an article I wrote for another online publication several years ago. It's short and to the point, and is still considered one of my favorite articles.

PUSHING THE INTENSITY BARRIER

  1. Thanks for sharing these! Love your writing style. Made me think about how much my knees hurt when I'm running and I how I let that pain get to me before I'm done with my distance. I could just learn to manage it better, like you're saying. My goal is to run a half marathon first and then a marathon, just like your man P in the story. Any more ideas for associating the pain with the gain?

  2. Thanks Terryn. It is important to listen to the feedback our body is trying to give us, so that we can balance intensity with safety. It's also a good idea to cross train, especially for distance running. Maintaining the muscles of the lower body can help performance in running. Keeping the muscles that support your knees help reduce pressure in them when running for distance.
