My first post!

Hey everyone! Thank you for reading. I want to start by introducing myself and providing a little background information. My name is Joe and I work as a personal trainer in the San Francisco Bay Area. I became interested in lifting weights as a young teenager. At 15, I got a job working the front desk at a small gym inside of a country club. The Fitness Director there got me interested in the idea of personal training, and he taught me the ins and outs of the business. When I turned 18, I took the A.C.E. (American Council on Exercise) exam and became a personal trainer. I continued working at that same gym until 2006 when I left for a larger corporate gym, where I have been personal training ever since. I now hold several certifications with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES). I am also DotFit certified.

I decided early on that I didn't want to be just a part-time trainer, or someone who personal trains for a while until they move on to something else. I wanted to be a career trainer. I attended Cal State University Hayward where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (the study of human movement) with an emphasis in Nutrition and Wellness. That's when I got involved in brining my passion for fitness to the internet. I co-founded a popular bodybuilding website and wrote in-depth articles for a journal we published monthly. At the same time, I was working for Champion Nutrition as a promotional rep. I would travel to different bodybuilding shows in California and Nevada and work the booth at various expos.

In 2007 I earned my Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Cal State University East Bay. My experience and education has helped me better serve my clients by giving me the knowledge and ability to approach their fitness needs from both a practical and scientific standpoint. Now I want to take that knowledge and experience back to the web to share with like-minded people! I hope you enjoy this blog and share it with your friends. I welcome any questions or feedback that you may have.
